OUR STORY

East London Surf.
Since 1937.

The East London Surf Lifesaving Club was founded in 1937. Our members voluntarily patrol Nahoon Beach, helping to provide a safe and enjoyable beach experience.

The club is affiliated to Lifesaving South Africa. Our main objective is to train children to eventually serve as volunteer lifeguards, growing their confidence, knowledge and skills along the way.

Lifesaving began as a way to keep lifeguards fit and develop their skills. It has evolved into a competitive sport that brings together fitness, friendship and service.

Over the years, EL Surf has given its members opportunities to compete nationally and internationally. Whatever your level of ability, our aim is for you to feel part of the team.

FROM OUR CHAIRMAN

Our youth.
Our future.

It is the ethos of East London Surf to create a family lifestyle for all, where aspiring lifeguards, no matter the level of their ability, feel a sense of being part of a team.

The youth of East London are the future of Surf Life Saving. This pathway teaches lessons and skills about how to be safe in the sea and on the beach, learning basic first aid and becoming fit and healthy.

“It is a privilege to see all the talented young individuals representing the East London Surf Lifesaving Club.”
